Post by Dave WPost by Jeff LaymanPost by WoodyPost by SpikePost by WoodyWe have a LG 32" smart TV.
When it is switched off the screen changes to the LG - Life's Good logo
which then fades out.
Does anyone know how to make this darn logo go away and the set just
power off immediately?
To avoid seeing the LG logo on switch-off, leave the TV on standby.
Always do - but logo woks on standby as well!
What happens if you turn it off at the mains socket? Do the power supply
capacitors store enough energy to still show the logo?
Power supply capacitors have nothing. At switch on the device reboots
itself and shows a logo, just like a computer.
The OP was talking about seeing the logo when switching off. There's
probably nothing you can do about something which appears when the TV
boots unless you have access to the code it runs when it boots.
However, I see from the webOS wiki that:
"On March 19, 2018, LG announced an open-source edition of webOS. This
edition would allow developers to download the source code for free as
well as take advantage of related tools, guides, and forums on its new
open source website to become more familiar with webOS and its inherent
benefits as a smart device's platform.
So it might be possible.
