SOT: iPad Mini and Bluetooth

If I connect my Bluetooth speaker (Bose) to my iPad Mini then use the
'sleep' function in the iPad, should this switch off the speaker or
does it leave the speaker on and deplete the battery?

Most Bluetooth speakers turn themselves off after 30 minutes or so of
silence; though you'll have to manually turn it on to use it again.

If this isn't the case, the speaker would have to stay on so far as the
Bluetooth reception is concerned, though I wouldn't have thought the
consumption would be very great.
