The collage of programmes that appear on the online, iPlayer startup
screen, contains many that I have seen is there way to delete them.

Yep!

On the right hand side, just above the thumbnail with the
right-scrolling arrow there should be "Manage full list". Click on that
and it'll put you on a new page where you can cull the list.

On my laptop there is no "thumbnail with the right-scrolling arrow"
and no "Manage full list".

Maybe it only does that if you click the "allow customisation" button,
which I haven't.

customisation' butto

FWIW I don't see it, the thumbnail, or the "Manage full list" with the
iPlayer app (Version 5.27.0) on my Android smartphone.

With my smart TV, I can't even see a way to delete any of the programmes
I've watched which I've found using "Search" (LHS of the screen).
Perhaps the only way is to dump my account and set up a new one, but
then iPlayer setup might not allow me to reuse the old email address.
Anyone know if old addresses can be reused with new accounts?

Not a phone, desktop firefox

Why don't they store useful settings against the BBC account? Such as

1) yes, I do have a licence
2) that I always want to skip trailers
3) which of their regions I live in
4) no, I don't want to enable a parental lock

In a browser you have to open your BBC Account separately to turn
personalisation on or off, its not just an iPlayer setting. The manage
list option just lets you remove previously watched items from the
continue watching list.

That's an interesting screen grab. I too use Firefox, but your iplayer
has an extra row between the iplayer header and the photos, including
the 'Turn on personalisation' stuff. Another difference is that
top-left there is a Y in a blue circle, followed by 'you-dont-nee...'
which expanded probably says 'you-dont-need-a-licence'. On my screen
instead of the blue circle there is a white circle with a black
head-and-shoulders in it followed by the words 'For you'. If I click
the circle and sign out, it changes to a white head-and-shoulders on
the black background followed by the words

The personalisation bit appears each time I've restarted firefox, until
I dismiss it with the "X", I only take first party session cookies.

I do have a licence, but I got somewhat grumpy when iPlayer started
demanding an email address and to know my name, as far as the BBC are
concerned my name is "You Don't Need to Know"

I had allowed personalisation in my BBC account. I turned it off, and
the 'Turn on personalisation' row appeared when signed in to iplayer.
The black head-and-shoulders in the white circle was replaced by a D
in a blue circle followed by my name, like your Y followed by
'you-dont-need-to-know'. Mystery solv
