I have had a plea from an ex-neighbour who says "My Amazon Fire – which
you helped me buy is now not able to accept BBC iPlayer or ITVX, what can
I get to replace it?"

Can anybody shed any light on this please? I can ask her for more
information but I only use a smartphone for 2SV/2FA and an occasional call
so I am lost with this.

Many thanks.

Could it be to do with version of software? I got a message from the
Beeb on my iPad Mini 2 saying the iPlayer needs an update then when I
tried to update it said the updated app is not compatible with the
operating system (iOS 12). Nor is the Met Office, Sky News, Argos and
probably many others.

I believe the new iPad Mini is released today so I am hoping the
problem will be resolved by lunchtime.

Could it be an old fire stick which can no longer support the latest
versions of iPlayer and ITVX ?

It's probably (periodically) signed out of both services, and ye have to
re-do sign in again.

Or the App needs updating.

Do a Whatsapp call, and ask her to hold it up to the TV?
