Is there any kind of TV box where you can programme streaming channels to
appear as on a classic TV, ie selected by numbers with some kind of EPG?

Most that I've seen first need you to start the iPlayer or Freeview Play app
from some kind of launcher, then wade through a load of promotions, then
select live channels, then the channel you wanted. Lots of context-based
shuffling through menus with the navigation pad, whereas on a regular TV you
just press 1 and get BBC1.

This is for somewhere where the DVB signal isn't good (and don't want to do
works to improve it), so looking at streaming options.

Thanks

I’ve never tried it, and it is all very new on the market, but I think it
is intended to do what you want.

But you do have to by a new TV, no external box as yet.

That looks interesting. But buying a new TV is not an option. And they
tout 'no boxes', which suggest they aren't going to come out with a box.

So far it only seems to be available built-in to new TVs, not in STBs
and not as an app for existing TVs/STBs

EE - both their STBs behave like this in "Internet mode"
But you have to subscribe to EE TV

Mind you, you can also do it with something like a Fire Stick and
assign short cuts to the first 5 keys

And, at least with my LG TV you can do the same thing.
