Normally I can access these streaming channels from my Browser on Mint.

But when I tried to do so having booted from Parted Magic on a flashdrive.

They reported that their library was only available to UK subscribers.

Now I want to know how, without moving from my chair I became exported?

TIA

Nothing in Firefox seems comparable.

I should have been more specific...I meant what is shown in Mint's Menu?

I can think of two things a supplier of information might use:

1) Location services (inside the browser, taps into OS Location services)
2) Google Widevine CDM module.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-drm

The pmagic_2020_10_12.iso I obtained, it has a Firefox onboard, and after two
downloads, it claims to be Firefox 134 or so. I don't see the Widevine plugin
in there, just the Cisco H264 Webrtc (which would be for purpose such as
a Zoom-like conference). The Widevine does not seem to be downloading automatically.
Maybe Widevine is essential for Netflix for example.

If a visit to BBC site is using Location services, there would likely be
a dialog near the browser bar "site X would like to know your location"
or similar. A builders merchant might present that dialog, when wishing to
show the current inventory of 2x4's at a specific store.

My apologies - I thought you had used PartitionMagic on a Mint
installation and perhaps location had got screwed!

(Topic of) Location service

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=367835

Web activities vary, by how "certain" they need to be about your location.
A "weak" scheme for example, would not please a Hollywood licensing company.
They would want a 'strong" method, a method with a track record (much
US content cannot be viewed in Canada for example, on Netflix, borders
matter to Hollywood materials).

The browser apparently has a setting for an internal location service.
This covers cases where the operating system does not provide a service.
On things like SmartPhones, which are chock-a-block with "permissions".
you can switch off Location Services to individual programs, so they cannot
capture your [good quality] location determination.

The above web pages suggests this can be used to test (whether
a robust result is available). If your location is blocked, it's possible
the dialog here will say as much.

https://browserleaks.com/geo

A "weak" location service, uses the address of the head office
of your ISP as your "location". Which is hardly ever correct
and could be off by 1000 miles. The BBC is not going to accept
that kind of information (reverse DNS lookup, then fetch the
head office address). The BBC will require the better quality
method.
