Oh dear, that does not sound good. A lot of people who have to use English,
but are natives of other countries tend to listen to uk stations on the
internet to keep up to date with what stuff means. One regularly calls phone
ins from Japan, and her English is better than mine, so it can be done. I
guess some people have an ear for languages and accents. I'm useless at
languages.

I worked in Shanghai back in 1988-1989, and when my interpreter was
away, her replacement and I actually got on better speaking German than
English.
