Someomeone here suggested using the audio equaliser function on a TV to
quieten the irritating noise of the vuvuzelas in the World Cup matches.

I've experimented with my TV. The equaliser has bars marked 100Hz,
300Hz, 1kHz, 3kHz, 10kHz. I've set the 1kHz one to zero. It has a slight
effect on speech but gives a great reduction of the irritating noise.

There's a discussion all about them going on over in uk.tech.broadcast

One poster has plotted the frequency distribution:-
